If you haven’t heard of Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals, it is because it is a small company owned by a co-op of small-business owners and some of those owners. We put all of our profits into providing your pets with the highest quality ingredients. When you purchase one of our products you are paying for only for the highest-quality ingredients and processing, and not for advertising or huge sales forces traveling the country.
Grandma Mae's was founded in 2007, when a group of independent pet store owners met to discuss what was happening in the pet food industry. These men and women, who had devoted their lives to selecting the highest-quality products for pets, were concerned that many premium pet food brands were being acquired by large corporations or investment groups. They noticed that after the control of these companies passed from their founders to investors, often the quality of the product declined while prices went up. The pressure for increased profits led in many cases to taking short-cuts with ingredients and processing as well as to increases in cost. In order to provide their customers with a product of the quality they demanded, these small business owners pooled their funds to start Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals---the independent retailer-owned pet food.

Uristic is a word that means our cat food is optimized for long term urinary tract health. The amino acid DL-Methionine raises the acidity of urine, which helps break down urine crystals, in turn reducing inflammation of the urinary tract. Our canned cat foods cans contain 0.42% DL-Methionine, which is the equivalent of the 1.0% DL-Methionine in our dry cat & kitten formula when adjusted for the different amounts of wet food vs. dry food consumed while following our recommended daily feeding guidelines. DL-Methionine occurs naturally in our fresh ingredients.

Our Chicken Meal & Brown Rice Recipe is a non-GMO dry food made with the highest quality chicken meal and healthy brown rice. The formula’s 1% Methionine, found naturally occurring in our fresh ingredients and supplemented to optimal levels, raises the acidity of urine. Our Duck Meal & Sweet Potato Entrée is made with high-quality, protein rich duck meal as the first ingredient. Duck meal is one of the easiest protein sources for dogs to digest and we have paired it with sweet potatoes, an excellent source of antioxidants, fiber, and complex carbohydrates, as well as soothing brown rice and nutritious fresh vegetables. As in all our dry foods, the protein in Duck Meal & Sweet Potato Entrée is over 70% from animal sources and we use a slow-cook low-temperature process which helps retain the maximum nutritional value from all our ingredients.
